ACANTHOLIMON. Dwarf evergreen plants, somewhat resembling thrift, but with stiff, spiny leaves, suitable for the rockery. A popular species is glumaceum, which bears a profusion of rose-coloured flower’s in summer.  Venustum also has a rose flower.

These sea lavenders thrive in warm, gritty, well-drained soil. They are propagated by cuttings or layers taken in the late summer. The slips must be wintered in a cold frame, and do not make good plants until the second year Pron. Ak-an-tho-li’-mon.
